Patmos is an ideal destination for nature beauty visitors, thanks to its amazing coastline, sheer cliffs and volcanic soil. Worldwide known as a sacred island, Patmos is one of the most important religious destinations with a strong spiritual character since Saint John the divide was inspired to write the Bible's Book of Revelation in 95 AD. Patmos is also called the "Jerusalem of the Aegean" or the "Island of Apocalypse". According to ancient mythology, the island's residents named it Litois due to devotion to the goddess Artemis, the daughter of Lito.

Patmos is located on the northernmost of Greece's Dodecanese Island group between Ikaria to the north and Leros to the south. The island is also famous for total relaxation due to its secluded beaches and exceptional countryside, providing an imposing gracefulness. Travelers are also impressed with its cultural traditions, charming villages, and historical monuments.

The Cave of Apocalypse and the large Monastery of St. John, situated on the top of a hill above Chora, are the island's main attractions which were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 1999, along with the capital and historical city of Chora. Moreover, many other monasteries are scattered around the island, enhancing its undeniable sacred aura.

Chora is the island's capital and one of the most picturesque villages of Patmos. It boasts traditional architecture, including whitewashed houses, narrow paved paths, traditional shops and native places to taste local delicacies. Another famous spot is Skala, the largest settlement and the man port of Patmos. The charming village constitutes the commercial and trade centre of Patmos island, with a number of sights nearby worth visiting.
A few of the most popular beautiful beaches of Patmos are Livadi, Lambi and Kambos on the northern side of the island, whereas Alykes, Psilli Ammos and Petra on the southern part.

Another highlight is the lovely fishing village of Grikos facing the small island of Tragonissi, famous for its natural beauty and charming little piers.
